Successful Educational Events Held

Happy New Year from the Great Lakes Chapter!

Yes, we continue to be in the pandemic with many challenges ahead. Despite those challenges, our last quarter of 2021 was successful. We held a live 2-day conference last year. Over 50 members and 14 vendors attended. Members were excited to network, meet with vendors, and learn about new products.

The weekend started with a Friday night presentation by one of our vendors followed by a presentation by one of our members Linda Keilman. Linda was recently recognized with The Research in Aging Award from Michigan State University for her outstanding aging-related research. Congratulations Linda!

The conference featured new concepts and evidence-based therapies to assist our senior patients. Shelly Denes, PT, CFPS, C/NDT, CGCO, is an expert in fall prevention. She presented the engaging and informative topic “Effective Fall Prevention from the CDC’s Dynamic Trio.”

The conference ended with raffles to support our student scholarship fund. We asked for ideas for the next conference to attract more attendees. We hope to have taped versions of future conferences for those who cannot attend.

Our last quarterly meeting of 2021 was held in December. Attendance was outstanding with a dynamic presenter Dr. Randy Lieberman speaking on the “Impact of Balanced Rhythm Control on Atrial Fibrillation Management.” He was engaging and questioned us endlessly.

Love and peace in the new year!
