GAPNA Excellence Awards, Foundation Grants and Scholarships

GAPNA Excellence Awards, Foundation Grants and Scholarships nominators and nominees must be regular or associate GAPNA members in good standing for a minimum of one year. The nominations are tallied in July and the recipients are announced every year during the Awards Celebration at the GAPNA Annual Conference.

Application submission dates* are as follows:

  • GAPNA Excellence Award applications are accepted March 1 through June 1.
  • GAPNA Foundation Grants applications are accepted March 15 through May 15.
  • Health Affairs Scholarship applications are accepted through December 2
  • Application forms will be available during the open dates.

Self-nominations are invited.

Excellence Awards

    The Chapter Excellence Award honors a chapter that best promotes the goals of the Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) through its member relationships, professional activities, and promotion of advanced practice gerontological nursing throughout the local, regional, and/or state during the past year.
    The Excellence in Clinical Practice Award is given for outstanding clinical practice by an individual who demonstrates a commitment to geriatric clinical practice.
    The Excellence in Community Service Award is given for outstanding community service by an individual who demonstrates a commitment to service to the community.
    The Excellence in Education Award is given to an individual involved in the teaching and/or design of gerontological nurse practitioner curriculum or course content.
    The Excellence in Leadership Award is given to an individual who demonstrates a commitment to geriatrics through direct care, education and/or research. 
    The Excellence in Research Award is given to an individual who demonstrates a commitment to research in nursing that benefits the geriatric community.
    The GAPNA Innovative Project Award is given to a Committee or Special Interest Group (SIG) that exemplifies GAPNA’s mission to enhance and promote the care of older adults. The Committee or SIG should demonstrate, through use of gerontological nursing principles, outstanding innovative projects or initiatives to benefit GAPNA membership, gerontological advanced practice nursing, and/or care of older adults.

Scholarships

    The Gerontological Advanced Practice Nurses Association (GAPNA) Health Affairs Scholarship provides assistance to a GAPNA members who wish to attend the annual American Association of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) Health Policy Summit.

Foundation Grants

    GAPNA Foundation offers several grants to assist faculty, practitioners and students with advancing scholarship and care for older adults. Applications are open from March 15, 2024 to May 15, 2024, for the following grants to be awarded at the GAPNA Annual Meeting.
