Chapter Leadership Triumphs: Celebrating Achievements, Recognizing Excellence, and Setting Ambitious Goals for 2023-24

By Michelle Moccia

The Chapter Leadership “sweet 17” and Vice-Presidents met with other Chairs of SIGS and Committees in mid-August with GAPNA National Leadership to share their past year Chapter activities. Unsurprisingly, the Board was wowed by their contribution to improving older adult care, strategies to engage current members, recruitment methods, hosting quarterly meetings and annual conferences, and strong participation in educational Zoom webinars. Chapter Leaders thanked the Board for the opportunity to win money for their Chapters through the Zoom webinars.

The Chapters shared their activities, business cards, and future conference flyers at the 2023 Annual Conference in New Orleans during the Friday evening GAPNA Gallery event.

Congratulations to the Great Lakes Chapter, which won the Chapter Award of Excellence. Maria Contreras, Chapter President, accepted the award on behalf of the chapter members.

2023-24 goals:

  1. Create a Toolkit/Resource Guide for a student mentorship event.
  2. Virtual Event and other additions to the current conference tool kit, which is available for chapter leaders within the GAPNA Exchange group.
  3. Work on recruitment and member engagement ideas.

Best,
