GAPNA announces the winner of the 2018 Health Affairs scholarship, congratulations to Ronda Thompson!

Ronda has been a member of GAPNA for 10 years and is currently a member of the Post-Acute/Long-Term Care SIG. As an ANP/GNP she currently practices in Long-Term Care in rural Wisconsin and is in a DNP program.

Ronda is an active member of the Wisconsin Nurses Association APRN Forum Board where she has engaged in modernizing APRN practice. Ronda recently participated in the WI APRN Coalition Lobby Day as a WNA intern, NP, and constituent.

This event energized her political advocacy efforts and through attendance at several legislative events she has shared her experiences from her practice, the importance of caring for patients in a rural area, and challenges to patient access, safety, cost and outcomes -- especially with unnecessary hospital readmissions.

Ronda’s goals in attending AANP’s Health Policy Conference include increasing her knowledge and leveraging the event as a springboard to encourage more political involvement and interest in health policy to her fellow DNP students. Congratulations Ronda!
